Italy!

We have been going back and forth over going on a big trip to celebrate trey's graduation from medical school. Since it looks like we probably won't sell our house, we finally booked plane tickets to Italy today!! I am beyond excited.=)!!!!!!!!!!!

I know lots of you have been and commented on facebook about what to do and where to go. I haven't even really had time to reply to everyone. But now, I am all ears for any traveling advice, must see attractions, hotel advice, restaurants....... and on and on. So, feel free to shoot me an email or whatever to let me know any wisdom you may have to impart.

Our itinerary is pretty wide open. After much deliberation, we decided to fly into Rome, make our way up to Venice and fly home from there. We are definitely staying in Rome 2-3 days, then it's onto Florence and then end up in Venice. In between is what is not planned yet. Since this is our first trip to Italy we decided it would be best to hit the high notes and do all the things "you have to do/see once in your life" such as the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, gondola ride in Venice...

We are about to start looking for quaint and inexpensive hotels/bed and breakfasts to stay at along the way, so if you've been and stayed somewhere cheap and good, let me know. We may do some side trips from Florence to Siena or Cinque Terre and are considering renting a car vs train. Would love advice on that. Then as far as Venice goes, just what to do, where to stay etc...

Also, if anyone wants to join us, let me know!!! We are definitely doing this on a budget, so any of that type of advice would be great too!

Yipee, I need to learn some Italian!

It's Match Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is a milestone in the Warren household. Trey has "match day" which means he will find out where he'll be spending the next 4 years doing an anesthesia residency. For medical students, this day is really bigger than graduation. We are hoping that we end up at UAB, but if God has other plans then we are open to what He has in store for us.
The festivities begin at 11:00 am and continue throughout the day. There is a podcast of the matching available if anyone is interested at http://medicine.uab.edu/matchday/ . The whole thing pretty much goes down like sorority bid day, except every person has to get up in front of a microphone and announce to the whole room where they matched. Kinda crazy, but it should be very fun and exciting.
Trey, I am so proud of you and it amazes me how quickly this day has come. You are going to be a great doctor and I know God will use you to do His will and take care of His children daily. You are a blessing to me and to everyone who knows you! I LOVE YOU!We've come a long way, but here is a picture of us at Trey's white coat ceremony almost four years ago!
