Friday Fun with the Animals

We took a trip to the Petting Zoo at Oak Mountain on Friday (the most beautiful day of the week!)  We definitely weren't the only people who had this idea either.  We had to actually wait in line to get into Oak Mtn for about 10 minutes.  But it was worth it to enjoy the beautiful day out there!

We decided first things first, so we had our picnic before seeing the animals.
There were sheep all over the place and they were actually "baaaa"ing.  Selah was wide eyed the whole time.  I think she thought she was on Reality Baby McDonald (for those of you Baby Einstein fans).
Here are some 3 day old baby goats, they were so cute.
Here is the 7 week old spotted pig.  He was all alone in there which was kinda sad, but he sure was cute!
Here is one of the donkeys/mules? wandering around the barnyard.  Sophie definitely preferred the caged animals to the ones who could come right up to you.  I guess when you're 4, they look pretty scary=).

Here was one of two young cows that were "moo"ing a lot.  Selah definitely was shocked the first time she heard it.  I was using my fixed focal length lens, so I had a hard time getting any pictures with animals and kids.  Plus, Sophie wasn't geting anywhere near any of the animals.  And Selah kept a safe distance as well.

She did start wandering off for a minute, but she turned around back to mama very quickly when that sheep started walking briskly towards her, probably looking for some food!

Definitely worth the $2 we paid to get into the park.  (kids 5 and under are free)

Fun in the Sun and a new book!

Praise the Lord for beautiful days filled with sunshine!  God knew that we needed seasons to give us a change.  Can you imagine years and years of only one season?  I can't.  I love every season, and just about the time I am getting tired of one, we get a new one!  This week I've been especially loving our Spring weather!

Not only has the weather been great, but Daddy had a day off of work, so to the park we went!  Selah almost started hyperventilating when she looked out her car window and realized where we were.  She is such a ham!  She wasted no time whooshing down the slide.

Those sweet cheeks and  innocent eyes melt my heart every time she looks at me.

Any day when Daddy is home is a good day, especially this year when there haven't been nearly enough!

Sophie was super excited to see a sweet friend from school at the park.  I didn't get too many pictures of her because I couldn't keep up with them.

Sophie was very excited to show off her new found skill of sliding down the pole.

And of course the swing set is a must, but Daddy pushes her higher than mommy would.  I guess that is what makes Daddy's so fun=)

Selah wants to swing in the big girl swing, but  as soon as shes up, she wants to get down!

Too cool for school, obviously.

A little hair raising ride with Big sissy.  Selah is the one who probably needs the helmet.  But whiplash is the most likely injury in one of these little cars.  And if your kids have one, you know what I mean.  Stop-Go-Stop-Go...

It helps to have a BIG TALL Daddy when you're playing basket ball!

Selah was apparently confident in her own skills!  Good form.
All in all, a very fun filled day!

On another note...

This is what I'm reading right now.  I love a good book.  This one is proving to be an easy read, but I haven't gotten too far into it.  So far so good!

Stay tuned for more sewing conquests!

Sew Fun!

I love cute ruffle shorts with mongrammed or applique tshirts.  I really wanted to get the girls a few of these matching outfits, but the best price I could find was about $30 per outfit... So I decided that I could do it myself for a lot less!

For about $24, I bought supplies (from Hancock) to make 8 pairs of shorts/bloomers for the girls.  That comes out to be about $3 each pair.  Here's my first attempt.  I used Becky for the shorts and Frannie Baby for the bloomers.

Hopefully I'll have a cute picture of my precious cuties in these soon!

I am sewing with Jennifer in a few days, so hopefully we'll have lots of cute new clothes to post soon.  Projects are so much more fun when you have a friend to do them with!
